Birthday Dinner.
Last evening a few friends of Judge C. E. Shipley gathered at his pleasant home on East Adams street and gave a quiet surprise to that worthy citizen, the same in honor of its being Judge Shipley’s sixty-fourth birthday. Mrs. Shipley had prepared an elegant banquet to which the pleasant gathering sat down to and heartily enjoyed. The assembled guests presented their honored friend and host of the evening with a fine umbrella, which he accepted gratefully as a memento of friendship and good feelings. The evening was most pleasantly passed, and when all departed they wished Judge Shipley many returns of the pleasant evening he enjoyed on his 64th birthday. Those present were Messrs. A. F. Patterson, M. C. Smith, George Spilker, Ralph Hemingray, S. C. Goshorn, Henry Wysor, Bob Hemingray, John Mason, Charley Willard, R. C. Griffith, A. L. Wright, N. F. Ethell and Mr. Anderson, of Lafayette.
