LOVERS IN SCHOOL DAYS

Davy Cusick, a Polo Star, Won

Her First, but Pair Were

Divorced.

Miss Sue Hemingray, who eloped from this city with David Cusick, the former Muncie polo star and later divorced from him at Kokomo, is soon to be married to Robert Scott, Jr., of this city, in New York. The wedding will culminate a school-mate romance. Cards announcing the approaching wedding were received in Muncie yesterday morning and last night Mrs. Robert Scott, Sr., and daughter, Miss Daisy, left rot New York City, to be present at the ceremony.

Miss Hemingray and Scott attended school together and paid much attention to each other but the "case" was broken up when David Cusick came here from the east to play polo. Miss Hemingray was infatuated with "Flaxen haired Davy" and as Mrs. Anne Hemingray, her mother, opposed the suit of the polo player, the couple decided to elope and did it in a very romantic manner. The young woman had planned to go with her mother to St. Louis, but Mrs. Hemingray was foiled at the union station. Just as the train was about to leave, Miss Hemingray left the car to bid someone good-bye but, as she had planned, the train pulled out of the station before she could get aboard. With Mrs. Hemingray speeding on her way to Indianapolis, the young woman and Cusick secured the marriage license and were wed. He took her to his old home in Fall River, Mass., but later returned to Kokomo to play polo. It was there that Mrs. Cusick received her divorce decree and the return of her maiden name.

WENT TO GOTHAM INSTEAD.

Young Scott, who is the son of an East Main street hardware dealer, left Muncie a few months ago, telling his friends that he intended to spend some time in California. Instead, he went to New York, where Mrs. Hemingray has been living with her mother. The old friendship was quickly renewed and in a few days they will be married. The date of the wedding was not known to Muncie relatives.

Mrs. Scott, before leaving Muncie last night, stated that the announcement the approaching wedding was not a surprise to her, as she had been informed through letters that the union was contemplated. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Scott will leave New York for California and will spend some time in the west.

The bride was formerly a leader in society among the younger people and has a host of friends in Muncie. Her mother, who is a wealthy widow, is said to favor her marriage to Scott. The latter assisted his father in conducting the hardware store but just before leaving this city, was employed as an electrical engineer by the Warner Arc Light company.
