SUE HEMINGRAY TO BE WIFE OF A FORMER SWEETHEART Was Married Few Years Ago to Goal Tend and Divorced. Muncie, Ind., June 18. — Miss Sue Hemingray, who eloped from this city with David Cusick, the former Muncie polo star and was later divorced from him at Kokomo is soon to be married to Robert Scott, jr., of this city, in New York. The wedding will culminate a schoolmate romance. Cards announcing the approaching wedding were received in Muncie yesterday morning and last night Mrs. Robert Scott, sr., and daughter, Miss Daisy, left for New York city to be present at the ceremony. Miss Hemingray and Scott attended school together and paid much attention to each other but the "case" was broken up when David Cusick came here from the east to play polo. Miss Hemingray was infatuated with "Flaxen-haired Davy," and as Mrs. Anna Hemingray, her mother, opposed the suit of the polo player, the couple decided to elope and did it in a very romantic manner. The young woman had planned to go with her mother to St. Louis, but Mrs. Hemingray was foiled at the union station. Just as the train was about to leave Miss Hemingray left the car to bid someone good-bye but, as she had planned, the train pulled out of the station before she could get aboard. With Mrs. Hemingray speeding on her way to Indianapolis, the young woman and Cusick secured the marriage license and were wed. He took hero to his old home in Fall River, Mass., but later returned to Kokomo to play polo. It was there that Mrs. Cusick received her divorce decree and the return of her maiden name. |
