Magic City Glass Affairs.

Muncie, Ind., Dec. 15. — After a period of depression, it appears that Muncie is about to take a new lease on life. Two iron mills that have not been operated for many months, will be started as soon as they can be gotten in readiness and the new furnace at Hemingray's and the only idle tank at Ball Bros. will be melting glass early in January. The latter may start before then.

The delay at Ball Bros. has been caused by the installation of a new gas producer, which, when competed, will be one of the finest in the country. This firm have solved the fuel problem to a nicety and are getting splendid results. Their efforts must have cost many thousands of dollars.

Great interest is manifested here in the proceedings against the Elwood strikers for contempt of court. Needless to say the sympathies of all fair-minded citizens are with the defendants, and we sincerely trust that their able attorney will succeed in the legal battle against Parryism.

Wm. Friend, the Cincinnati iron molder, who in self defense recently shot a professional strike breaker, is a former flint glassworker and was last employed at Hemingray's. — Wm. Connelly, of Branch No. 12, is convalescing from a serous illness, as is also Lawrence Norton, of the same branch.

Mrs. Paul Martin, wife of the well known flint, was seriously injured last week by being thrown from a street car. — Chas. Dorff and Wm. Heitger are on the sick list.

James St. John and Chris Kohfenburg, of Marion, were recent visitors here. — Alethea.
