HIS DEATH EXPECTED


Richard Evans, of 1549 Madison Avenue, who was stricken with apoplexy Thursday night, is in a very critical condition. There is very little hope for his recovery.

Researcher notes:Richard Evans married Mary Jane Hemingray, a sister of Robert Hemingray. He began working as a clerk for Gray & Hemingray in 1860. He acquired an eighth interest in the glass works following the death of Ralph Gray. Evans was named Vice President after incorporation of the company in 1870. He took on the role of Secretary and Treasurer after Ralph G. Hemingray was selected as Vice President in 1880. He remained with the company until illness forced his retirement in 1896.
