Researcher notes:Samuel J. Hemingray was the next older brother to Robert Hemingray who was the co-founder with Ralph Gray of the Gray & Hemingray Glass Works, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1848. Samuel was an employee until he acquired an eighth interest in the glass works following the death of Ralph Gray in 1863. Ralph Gray and Robert Hemingray did not establish the first glass works in Cincinnati. At least two other enterprises preceded them.
