ARTIFICIAL ICE. The Company Organized and the Plant to be Put in at Once. The HERALD of Monday spoke of the presence of Capt. Dugan in our city and the probability that his visit here meant the establishment of an artificial ice plant in Muncie. Our prediction has been verified, as a company was organized yesterday with a capital of $25,000, all the stock being taken in just ten minutes after the subscription was opened, and double the amount could have been obtained had it been required. The stock-holders in the enterprise are Capt. Dugan, James A. Bishop, S. C. Goshorn, R. G. Hemingray, J. A. Heinsohn, G. W. Spiker, and J. C. Greisheimer. Capt. Dugan, we understand, will remove his family to this city and will have the management of the business. The site for the location of the plant will be selected at once and work on the building will begin without delay. Capt. Dugan has all the necessary machinery already bought and it will not be many weeks before artificial ice will be manufactured in Muncie. The effort of the Anderson concern to monopolize the ice trade of Muncie has come to naught and, if we mistake not, they will find a dangerous rival in the Muncie Ice Company right at their own doors. |
