MEETING OF OIL CAN MANUFACTURERS. THE Glass Oil Can Manufacturers' Association met at the Monongahela House, Pittsburgh, on Thursday last. This organization was formed last fall, as noted in the JOURNAL at the time. The following firms were represented: Henderson & Harker, Columbus, Ohio; the Hemingray Glass Co., Covington, Kentucky; the Adams & Westlake Manufacturing Co., Chicago; C. Riessner & Co., New York; Ball Bros., Buffalo, N. Y.; R. L. Walker & Co., Canton, Ohio; the Point Bottle Works, Rochester, Pa.; and the Wormser Glass Co., of Pittsburgh, there being a full attendance. Mr. L. H. Harker, of the first-named firm, was re-elected president, and Mr. W. M. Campbell, of the Adams & Westlake Manufacturing Co., Chicago, secretary. As only a few firms were present at the initial meeting in September, nothing was accomplished, and on this occasion a committee was appointed at once. The principal object of the meeting was to adopt measures to secure a uniformity in prices, so that there would be no cutting. This industry is now very large, and reported to be in a flourishing condition. |
