FIRE AT HEMINGRAY'S. — Yesterday morning before 6 o'clock the building at the Hemingray glass works known as the "tank furnace" was found to be on fire. The flames spread rapidly, the entire building being of wood, and before the Fire Department reached the spot the destruction of the place was inevitable. There was considerable stock on hand, and this, with the machinery in the house, was either ruined outright or damaged very badly, both fire and water aiding in this result. Mr. Dan Hemingray, who is in charge of the plant here, estimates the loss at about $4,000. A part of this is covered by insurance. It is not known how the fire started, the supposition being that it originated from one of the furnaces. The burning of the place throws some forty men out of work for the time being. Repairs will be made at once.
