News of Fairmount.

FAIRMOUNT, IND., Feb. 28. — The fire was let out in the old factory of the Fairmount Glass Co. on the 25th inst. The tank had become unsafe, as two or three small breaks had occurred in the last week that it was running. The new factory has not started yet, but Mr. John Rau expects to have everything ready to blow next Monday. The severe cold weather caused considerable delay in getting started. They will operate with ten shops, five on each shift. The company expects to have both furnaces in operation by April 1.

At the Wilson & McCulloch's North factory they were bothered with bad glass a few weeks ago, but everything is now running smooth.

Jack Carmody, of Frisco, is one of the late arrivals in town. Wm. Lowe, better known as "Sport," is back in Fairmount again after a short stay in Covington, Ky. He was one of the blowers that left here a short time ago to take stock in the Covington Glass Co. At the present writing I am uninformed as to why he left there.

The Winslow Glass Co., of Matthews, is operating with five shops, but expect to increase their force in the near future. They are making a fine quality of glass and have several nice orders booked.      DEE JAY.
