ANNUAL MEETING

Of American Association of Flint and

Lime Glass Manufacturers.

The annual meeting of the American Association of Flint and Lime Glass Manufacturers was held at Haddon Hall, Atlantic City, on Friday of last week. It was called to order by President D. C. Ripley and representatives of the following named firms were present: Brox & Ryall, Co-operative Flint Glass Co., Ltd, Dithridge & Co., C. Dorflinger & Sons, Gill & Co., Gillinder & Sons, E. P. Gleason Mfg. Co., Hemingray Glass Co., F. Horman & Sons Co., Macbeth-Evans Glass Co., Marietta Glass Co., James J. Murray & Co., Tarentum Glass Co., United States Glass Co., and the Williamsburg Flint Glass Co.

Officers were elected for the ensuing year as follows: President, D. C. Ripley; vice presidents, D. C. Hemingray and Benjamin Ryall; treasurer, Thomas Evans. Additional managers: Geo. W. Blair, James Gillinder, and C. W. Klein. George F. Easton will continue to serve as actuary.

The reports of the officers showed the association to be in a prosperous condition. Very interesting papers were read by Thos. Evans, James Gillinder, and Actuary Easton. The subject of Mr. Evans' paper was "A Brief History of the Chimney Business," while Mr. Gillinder's paper treated on the relation of organized labor to the successful production of pressed and blown flint glass ware. Mr. Easton's paper was especially interesting. It showed the approximate amount (in tons) of glassware and chimneys made in the United States from 1850 to 1901.

The death of Ferdinand Horman and Paul Zimmerman, members of the association who passed away since the last meeting, was spoken of and measures taken to have a suitable minute prepared and entered on the records of the association. The meeting was one of the best ever held.
