Kimble Strike

Settlement

Likely Today

A four-day strike, which idled the Kimble Glass Company here, may be settled before the day is over, according to Harry Cook, international president of the AFL American Flint Glass Workers' Union. Some 7,000 workers in six plants located in three states are involved in the walkout.

The only remaining problem to be settled is a four-cent difference between the original union demand of 20 cents an hour, Cook told the International News Service. Only those AFGWU plants in the pressed glassware field were idled so far, although negotiations are continuing for unions in this field as well as those in the container field.

ALSO CLOSED in this area was the Overmyer Mould Company at Winchester, when mould makers Monday morning voted to respect the picket lines set up by a miscellaneous union, Local 518. The Overmyer Mould foundry north of Winchester was not affected.

The bargaining sessions in Toledo have not affected the Ball Brothers Company of Muncie, or other Eastern Indiana plants, such as Anchor-Hocking of Winchester and Armstrong Cork of Dunkirk.

Negotiations in the industry-wide talks were resumed at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with a federal mediator, Harry Gray, taking part.
