MUNCIE SURGEON'S TRIUMPH

The Peculiar Case of John Dodd,

and His Recovery.

Local Physician Performed One of Six

Operations of the Kind Mentioned in

Medical History.

John Dodd, who was stabbed by Larry Carey in a fight on East Eighth street August 5, whose case took on secondary complications of great danger was discharged from the Whitney hospital Wednesday by his physician, being considered out of danger. Owing to the infrequency and great danger of such cases this case has been of great interest to the physicians in charge and they now feel much pleased with the favorable termination. According to the statement of a surgeon today, there are but twenty other cases of this particular injury on record and only five successful operations similar to the one performed on Dodd are recorded. Stone, of New Orleans: Kocher, of Berne; Lucke, of Saxony; Matas, of New Orleans, and the Muncie surgeon are those entitled to mention.

The injury was a knife wound over the back of an ear. The blade severed an artery and the artery refused heal permanently keeping Dodd in constant danger of bleeding to death.
